How to get the latest version of the Chrome OS recovery image?

I used 'Chromebook recover Utility' to create the latest version of the recovery disk for the model 'Acer Chromebook 311 (C721)'.

However, when I tried to recover, I am getting 'You are using an out-of-date Chrome OS recovery image'.

This looks like a bug on Google side. Is there is a solution to this problem?

Go here: https://chromiumdash.appspot.com/serving-builds?deviceCategory=Chrome%20OS

and choose the kasumi version 110 .zip file

Sorry, this doesn't help. I tried downloading the 110 and created the image. However, I get the same message 'You are using an out-of-date Chrome OS recovery image'. Does it meant, it is looking for version 111? However, its not available yet, I believe. Is there anyway out of this deadlock?

You should be able to recover using any of those downloaded images so that means there is something else going on here.

Please try an alternative (non-SanDisk) recovery media.

If that doesn't work then you would need to contact your Chromebook's manufacturer for assistance with this:

Hi Mansoor BASHEER

To add, once you download the file that lagagnon suggests, you will need to tell the Chromebook Recovery Utility to "Use local file" to write to the recovery media.

Also, please send feedback directly to the team about this via Alt + Shift + i.

Sending feedback is important as the logs will help engineers identify issues and pain points.

Mansoor BASHEER,

I have never seen that error message before, it may be a bug as you suggested.

If you're Chromebook still boots and you can sign-in or use the guest account please do the following:

  • Open a browser tab and enter the following URL: chrome://os-settings/help
  • Then, click on "Additional details"
  • On the "Build Details" line, click on the icon that says:
"Copy build details to clipboardwhen you hover over it.
  • Then paste (Ctrl+v, or right-click Paste) the results in your reply.

That will provide important information that will help us with troubleshooting.

Version 112 has been released to Stable for many devices, including the Acer 311 C721. Try creating a recovery media with that version and updating.
