Import or export bookmarks

You can import bookmarks or favourites from another browser into Google Chrome. You can also use your Chrome bookmarks somewhere else by exporting them as an HTML file.

Import bookmarks

You can import bookmarks from multiple sources.

From Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari

To import your bookmarks, follow these steps:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  3. Select Bookmarks and then Import Bookmarks and Settings.
  4. Select the program that contains the bookmarks that you'd like to import.
  5. Click Import.
  6. Click Finished.

If you haven't created any bookmarks in Chrome, the bookmarks will appear in your bookmarks bar.

If you already have bookmarks in Chrome, the bookmarks will be in a new folder labelled "Imported From…"

From other devices where you use Chrome

If your bookmarks are stored in Chrome on another device, the easiest way to get them on to the device you're using is by signing in to Chrome on both. Then, sync the bookmarks to your Google Account.

To a mobile device

To get your bookmarks on a mobile device, sync your Google Account between a computer and your mobile device.

  1. On a computer, import your bookmarks with the steps above.
  2. Sign in to Chrome on both the computer and mobile device.
  3. Sync the bookmarks to your Google Account.

Export bookmarks from Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. In the top right, click More More.
  3. Select Bookmarks and then Bookmark Manager.
  4. In the manager, click the "Organise" menu.
  5. Select Export bookmarks.

Chrome will export your bookmarks as an HTML file, which you can then import into another browser.
