Set up Chrome for iPhone or iPad

Google Chrome is a fast web browser available at no charge. Before you download, check if Chrome supports your operating system and you have all the other system requirements.

For iOS devices, Chrome is available on:

  • iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch
  • iOS 15 and up
  • All languages supported by the App Store

To get started with Chrome on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Download Chrome
  • Sign in to Chrome
  • Make Chrome your default browser
  • Set the position of your address bar
  • Add Chrome to your dock

Download Chrome

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, search Chrome on the App Store.
  2. Tap Get.
  3. To install, follow the on-screen instructions.
    • If asked, enter your Apple ID Password.
  4. To start browsing, tap Open.
    • To open Chrome from your Home screen, tap Chrome Chrome.

Sign in to Chrome

Important: To sign in to Chrome, you must have a Google Account.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Sign In.
  3. Under "Sign In to Chrome," select the account that you want to use.
  4. Tap Continue as.

Make Chrome your default browser

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Default Browser.
  3. Tap Go to Settings... and then Default Browser App.
  4. Set Chrome as your default browser app.

Tips:

Set the position of your address bar

  1. On your iPhone, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Address Bar.
  3. Select Top or Bottom.
    • You can also tap and hold the address bar to move it.
      1. Tap and hold the address bar.
      2. Select Move Address Bar To Bottom or Move Address Bar To Top.

Tip: You can only customize your address bar position in portrait mode. In landscape mode, it stays at the top of the screen.

Add Chrome to your dock

  1. To add Chrome Chrome, you may have to create space on your dock.
    1. To remove an app, touch and hold the app you want to remove.
    2. Drag the app to your home screen and release it.
  2. Touch and hold Chrome Chrome.
  3. Tap Edit Home Screen.
  4. Drag the Chrome app to your dock and release it.
  5. To complete, tap anywhere on the screen.
