Use Listen to this page mode in Chrome

You can listen to the text you read on a website on your Android device and:

  • Play, pause, rewind, or fast forward while you read.
  • Change the playback speed.
  • Select your preferred voice.
  • Turn on or off text highlighting & auto scroll.

The languages available in Listen to this page mode are Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Change Chrome languages & translate webpages.

Use Listen to this page on your device

Important: Listen to this page isn't available yet on all websites. When a page isn't available for playback, the Listen to this page menu item won’t appear in the overflow menu.

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Go to a website with text that you’d like to read.
  3. At the top right, tap More More and then Listen to this page .
    • To exit Listen to this page mode: Tap Close Close.

Tips:

  • You can continue to browse the current website or switch to different tabs while you listen to a text.
  • You can continue to listen to text even if your screen is locked.

Manage your playback options

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Go to a website with text that you’d like to read.
  3. At the top right, tap More More and then Listen to this page .
  4. To manage playback options, tap the player.
    • To change the playback speed: Tap 1.0x.
  5. At the bottom right, tap Options More. You can:
    • Choose a voice: Tap Voice .
      • To preview a voice: Tap Preview .
    • Turn on or off text highlighting: Turn on or off Highlight text & auto scroll.
