Change text & display settings

You can customize how text and content displays on your device, and make your screen easier to view.

Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 12 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Change font size

The font size setting doesn't apply to the Google Chrome app, which has its own font size settings.

To make your font size smaller or larger:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Tap Font size.
  4. Use the slider to choose your font size.

Change display size

Important: Some apps on your screen might move.

To make items on your screen smaller or larger:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Display size.
  3. Use the slider to choose your display size. 

Use bold fonts

You can use bold font to improve visibility.
Important: Some apps won't use this setting.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on Bold text.

Use color correction

Color correction and grayscale settings help your device compensate for color blindness. 
  1. Open your device's Settings app .
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Tap Color correction.
  4. Turn on Use color correction.
  5. Choose a correction mode.

Use color inversion

Important: Color inversion reverses the color on the screen, and applies to everything including media.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on Use color inversion.

Use dark theme & color inversion together

  • Android 10 and up: If you open an app that doesn't support a dark theme, turn on color inversion.
  • Android 9 and lower: You can use only one of these settings at a time. If you turn on dark theme, color inversion automatically turns off.

Remove animations

You can turn off animations to help you focus.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on Remove animations.

Use large mouse pointer

You can make the mouse pointer bigger so it's more noticeable.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on Large mouse pointer.

Use high contrast text

High contrast can make text easier to read on your device. This feature changes the text color to either black or white, depending on the original text color.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on High contrast text.

Dim your screen

You can dim your screen beyond your phone's minimum brightness so it's more comfortable to read.
  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Text and display.
  3. Turn on Extra dim.
