Set up Change Password Notifier for Active Directory

Overview: Change Password Notifier for Active Directory

You can use Change Password Notifier for Active Directory (CPN for AD) to support the synchronization of your users' ChromeOS passwords with their Microsoft Active Directory passwords.

Whenever a user's Active Directory password is changed, CPN for AD immediately notifies ChromeOS about this change, and triggers an online sign in, if SAML single sign-on password synchronization is activated.

Note: CPN for AD does not sync the users’ password to Google. If you want to sync passwords, use Password Sync instead. For details, see Sync passwords with Active Directory. If you are using Microsoft Entra ID instead of Active Directory,  use CPN for Microsoft Entra ID.

Setup steps

  1. Get ready to use Change Password Notifier for Active Directory
  2. Install the Change Password Notifier for Active Directory service
  3. Verify the service installation
