User-Agent Switcher extension for Chrome

The User-Agent Switcher extension for Chrome spoofs and mimics user-agent strings. This extension allows you to quickly switch between user-agents so that you can test how different websites appear on different browsers and devices.

What it does

If you’re developing a site that needs to work on both mobile and desktop browsers and you want to see how the site appears on different types of devices, you can use this extension with Chrome on your desktop.

Please note that this extension does not provide improved privacy while browsing the Internet and that some sites might have other means to figure out that the browser is not what it pretends to be. Running this extension can impact the performance of your browsing experience due to its need to intercept and modify the data communicated to the server.

Install the extension

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store
  2. Search for “User-Agent Switcher for Chrome” or go to this direct link.
  3. Click Add to Chrome
  4. In the popup that appears click Add extension.

That’s it! You’re all set to use the extension.

To use it in the future, click on theChrome UA Spoofer icon in the top-right of your Chrome browser and select which user agent you want to access a webpage as.

Supported configurations

Using this tool, you can spoof the following browsers or mobile devices:

  • Chrome
  • Internet Explorer
  • iOS
  • Android
  • Windows Phone
  • Firefox
  • Opera
  • Safari
  • Your custom defined user agent string

Resolve common issues

If you’re no longer able to switch between user agents, switch the user-agent back to Chrome, and clear your cookies. This should make sites treat your browser normally again.
