To check an important conversation in Google Chat, you can pin it to the top of your conversation list. A dot shows up next to pinned conversations with unread messages.
Pin or unpin a conversation
- On your computer, open Google Chat or Gmail.
- In Gmail: On the left, click Chat.
- In Chat, next to a conversation, click More options

- Click Pin or Unpin.
