Report messages in Google Chat

You can report messages that are inappropriate or that violate your organisation's guidelines in Google Chat. This feature is only available in:

  • Google Workspace for Education Standard
  • Google Workspace for Education Plus
  • Google Workspace Enterprise Plus


  • Before you can report messages, your admin must turn on Chat content reporting for your organisation.
  • Your admin sets up the types of messages that you can report in Chat. If you don't see the option to report a message, you won't be able to send the message to your admin for review.
  • You can only report messages sent in your organisation. Chat history must be turned on in the conversation.

Report a specific message

  1. On your computer, open Google Chat or Gmail.
    • In Gmail: On the left, click Chat.
  2. Open a conversation.
  3. Hover over the message.
  4. From the available message actions, click More options and then Report.
  5. Enter your feedback.
  6. Click Submit report.
    • The report is sent to your admin to review.
