It sounds like you're not quite understanding how this can work for you. Let me try to clarify.
Google Calendar and Gmail, both the smartphone apps and the website versions, have the ability to act as centralized places for all of your email and scheduling needs.
Let me explain how I have it set up for my own business. I have my regular personal Google account, and I use that Gmail address for all typical things of a personal nature. Same is true for the calendar. I add my doctor's appointments, vehicle maintenance appointments, birthday parties, etc. all to my personal calendar. That personal calendar is private, so I alone have access.
I also have a second Google account that I use for business. However, I don’t want to deal with the annoyance of switching from one login to another just to check the email for the business account. I’d rather be able to see all of my email, both personal and business, in one Gmail account. So, in the settings of my personal Gmail account, in the Accounts & Import section, I’ve gone through the steps to add my business account. Now I can send and receive email from that account without having to leave my personal account.
For my calendar, I want the same thing. So, in the calendar settings for my business account, I’ve shared the business account’s calendar with my personal account, giving myself full editing privileges. Now I can return to my personal calendar and see all of my business appointments alongside personal ones. And I can edit or create new events for both calendars, all from one place.
In setting things up this way, I have not given anyone else permission to view or edit my calendars or my email. It’s simply easier for me to see everything in one place.
If I only want to see one of the calendars for some reason, I can just un-check the box beside it to temporarily hide all of its contents.
I can do the same thing in Gmail through the use of
filters and
labels. That’s a few extra steps that I’m not going to get into right now, but that process is simple enough.
I hope this makes it clearer. So, you can have your work email and calendar as well as your personal email and calendar in the same place, without worrying that anybody from your job will have access to your personal messages or events.
