Set your working hours & availability

If you use Calendar for work or school, you can set your working hours in Calendar to specify the days of the week you work and what times you’re available for meetings and events. You can also show when you are out of the office and unavailable for meetings or other events.

Turn on working hours

When you set your working hours, people who try to schedule meetings with you outside of these hours will be informed that you aren’t available. You can only turn on working hours from a computer, and not from the Google Calendar app.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings.
  3. On the left, under "General," click Working Hours.
  4. In the "Working hours" section, select Enable working hours.
  5. Select the days you work and set the times you’re available.

Note: Calendar may suggest working hours based on your time zone, common working patterns in your country or region, and your scheduling and meeting patterns. You can accept, decline, or edit these suggestions.

Show when you are out of office

When you set your out of office status, all meetings during that time will be automatically declined.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. At the top of your calendar, click the first date you’ll be out of the office.
  3. Click Out of office.
  4. Select the dates you’ll be out of the office.
  5. Optional: Add time and edit your decline message.
  6. Click Save.
