  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then General and then Theme.
  3. Choose an option.

  • For Android 10 and up, widgets and the Calendar appear in Dark mode if Battery saver or Dark theme are turned on from your system settings.
  • For Android 9 and lower, widgets are always in light mode.

Add an account to sync

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Tap Accounts and then Add account.
  3. Select Google as the type of account.

Limit how often you sync Calendar

To save data and battery life, you can limit your sync to only happen while you use the app.

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone or tablet.

  3. Select an account.
  4. Tap Account sync.
  5. Turn off Google Calendar.

Note: If you close the Calendar app while a sync is in progress, it might take some time before the sync stops.

View your personal and work calendars together in your Android Work Profile

You can update your work Calendar app to also display your personal calendars. Then, you can easily create and edit events in one place.

  • Work calendars are not added to your personal Calendar app.
  • Your work and personal calendars are stored separately. Personal account details are not shared with your work account.
  • Personal calendars on your work Calendar app are invisible to coworkers and administrators unless you share your personal calendars directly with your work account.
  • If you want to share personal calendars with your work account, your administrator must turn on this option.
  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap Settings and then Personal calendars.
    • If you don’t see a "Personal calendars" option, your administrator may have disabled this option for your organization.
  3. Tap Turn on in Settings.
  4. Turn on Connect these apps.
  5. Tap Allow.

Tip: You can check your settings in Calendar app Calendar and then Settings to confirm "Personal calendars" is now set to "Shown".

Switch from sharing your personal calendar directly with your work account to enabling the Personal calendars setting

If you previously shared your personal calendars with your work account, the "Personal calendars" setting will show duplicate personal events on your work Calendar app.

  • Enable the "Personal calendars" setting directly on the work Calendar app to ensure data separation between your personal and work Calendar data.
  • Share your personal calendars directly with your work account to make your personal calendars visible on all Calendar surfaces, including computer and mobile devices.

To remove your previously shared personal calendars from your work account:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap the personal calendar you want to hide.
  3. Turn on Sync for each personal calendar.
  4. In Settings, enable Personal calendars.
