Create & manage a public Google calendar

You can share your calendar publicly so anyone can check it.

How public calendars work

When you make a calendar public, other people can:

  • Find your public calendar on a website. If this website is searchable, people can find your calendar in search results.
  • Sync your calendar with other applications.
  • Subscribe to your public calendar and check it in Google Calendar.

When you make a calendar public, you can choose to let other people check all the event details or just when you are free or busy.

Make your calendar public

You can have multiple calendars and share them with different people. For example, you could have a public calendar you share with everyone, and a private calendar that only you can check.

Note: You can only edit Google Calendar sharing settings from a computer, not the mobile app.

Mark your calendar as public
  1. On a computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings.
  3. Click the name of the calendar you want to share.
  4. Open Access permissions.
  5. Check the box next to "Make available to public"
  6. If you don't want other people to find the details of your events, select See only free/busy (Hide details).

G Suite users: Your domain's administrator may restrict your sharing settings. If you can't find some sharing settings, contact your domain administrator.

Stop sharing your calendar publicly
  • On a computer, open Google Calendar.
  • On the left side under "My calendars," find the calendar you don't want to share with the public anymore.
  • Open Access permissions.
  • Uncheck the box next to "Make available to public".

Note: This change usually only takes a few minutes, but it can take up to 4 hours.

Share your public calendar

There are a few ways to share your public calendar:

Share as a link

You can share your calendar with a link so that others can get your calendar in a web browser, Google Calendar, or another application.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings.
  3. Click the name of the calendar you want to share.
    • If you want people to subscribe to your calendar, click Access permissions and then Get shareable link.
    • If you want a link that doesn't require people to sign in or subscribe, click Integrate calendar and share the public link.

Add events to a public calendar

If you have multiple calendars shared with different people, make sure you pick the right calendar when you create a new event.

  • Unless you change the setting, new events match the calendar's default settings. For example, if the default is set to “public,” anyone can find your new event.
  • You can change an event's visibility settings to override the calendar's default settings.
