Block someone in Google Calendar

To prevent unwanted invitations, you can block an event organizer. When you block someone, it:

• Prevents future invitations from them on your calendar.
• Blocks them in other Google services like Chat, Drive, and Photos.

Before you begin

• You can only block someone from Google Calendar on a computer.
• You can only block other Google Accounts. To block non-Google accounts, block their email address in Gmail.
• After you block someone, any existing invitations from the blocked user remain on your calendar. If you don’t want the invitations on your calendar, you can manually delete them.

Report an event as spam

• In Google Calendar, you can report inappropriate invitations and events as spam.
• If you receive unsolicited events from an unknown sender, report the event as spam.
• If the same sender repeatedly invites you to unwanted events, you should block them.

Block an event organizer in Calendar

1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
2. Click the event from the person you want to block.
3. At the top right of the event, click More options .
4. Click Block [name]  Block.

Tip: After you block someone, Google Calendar automatically removes the event.

Unblock an event organizer

1. On your computer, go to myaccount.google.com/blocklist.
2. Next to the account, click Remove.

Tip: After you unblock someone, it does not restore any previously blocked events. They must manually send new invitations for events you wish to attend.

Learn what to expect when you block someone

Blocking someone does not block all possible interactions from this person. In particular:

• Gmail notifications:
  • If previous events from the blocked person are updated, they can still trigger notifications in Gmail.
  • To stop the notifications, block the sender's email address.

• Access to your calendars:
  • Blocking someone does not remove their access to your calendar if you previously shared it with them.
  • To remove their access, update your share settings for your calendar.
• Secondary calendars:
  • You can’t block someone from a secondary calendar you have subscribed to. To avoid seeing invitations to a secondary calendar, unsubscribe from that calendar.
  • However, if you block someone, the block applies even if the person invites you from a secondary calendar.
• Delegates:
  • If you are a delegate for another user, you can’t block someone on their behalf.
  • If a user you blocked has a delegate that sends an invite, that invitation will still be blocked.
  • If a blocked user acts as a delegate for an unblocked user, invitations sent on behalf of that unblocked user are blocked.
• Guest modification access:
  • If you edit an event with "Guest can modify" permissions and you blocked the organizer, the event is removed from your calendar.
