You can find and manage events from different accounts in the Calendar app.
Get all features with your Google Account
When you use your Google Account, you can:
- Add people to your events.
- Get invites to events.
- Use different colors for events and calendars.
- Add files or video calls to your events.
- Sync your calendar on all your devices.
- Create tasks.
Learn about non-Google accounts
If you use a local or third-party account with Calendar, some features might not work.
| Account type | Description | How it works in Google Calendar |
| Local account | A calendar that’s saved on your phone or created by another app on your device. |
If you turn on this account, you can get events from its calendar in the Google Calendar app. You can’t switch to this account. |
| Third-party account | A calendar managed by a different calendar service, such as Outlook or Apple Calendar. | You can get events and switch to this account from your profile picture to create events on its calendar. |
Before you begin
- To switch accounts in the Calendar app, set your screen orientation to portrait mode.
- Your current account is at the top of the Menu
. Other accounts you turn on are below it.
- To show or hide all calendars from accounts you turn on:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
.
- Select the calendars you want to display in the grid.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app
Switch accounts
Important:
- You can’t switch to a local account.
- Turn on a third-party account in Calendar app settings to switch to it. Learn how to turn on non-Google accounts.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app
.
- At the top right, tap your profile picture
.
- In the menu, you can:
- Select a different account: If you have many accounts, you can pick another account that you turn on.
- Open your Google Account settings: Tap Manage your Google.
- Switch between your work and personal profiles: If you have a work or school account with an Android Work Profile, select:
- Switch to work profile
- Switch to personal profile
- Manage accounts on your device: To add, remove, or update accounts, tap Manage accounts on this device.
- Add another account: You can add another account to the Calendar app. When you add a new Google Account, it becomes the one you use.
Tips:
- Your profile photo shows which account you use.
- Before you switch to a different account, save any changes you make.
- If an account can’t do something, Calendar automatically switches to an account that can.
- To manage any personal calendars you have on your work profile, switch to the Calendar app associated with your personal profile.
Turn on a non-Google account
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
Settings.
- Tap Manage accounts.
- Enable the non-Google account.
Learn about account switch notifications
- When you create an event in a non-Google account in Calendar, you get a notification about what that account can’t do.
- This message shows when you use an account that doesn’t support common Calendar features, such as colors, tasks, and syncing.
- To switch to your Google Account and use all Calendar features, in the notification, tap Switch account.
