Bad review is ranking very high in relevance

Hello! I have a client who has almost a perfect score for their reviews (4.9). But when you filter by "relevance" the baddest review is in the first place. I don't understand why if the client has a great general score, this review is in this place. And it is causing troubles with the client's customers. What should I do?

Hi Vivi,

Google will determine if a review is "relevant" based on a few different factors. Factors such as review length (200+ characters), specificity, being written by a local guide, incorporation of keywords, and inclusion of photos can make a review more "relevant" in the eyes of Google. This means a negative review that is detailed, written by a local guide, contains relevant keywords, and includes photos, can be ranked higher in relevance. It's not about the overall rating, but the perceived usefulness and credibility of the individual review.

You often see negative reviews listed when you look at the most relevant because disgruntled customers will usually leave reviews that fit most of the criteria above (long, specific, descriptive, with pictures included).

To reduce the impact, you can encourage your client to respond professionally to the review, showing engagement and concern for customer feedback. Additionally, encourage happy customers to leave positive, detailed, and specific reviews, with photos, to balance the visibility of negative ones.

Great information!! Thank you Andrew!
I don't know about the "factors" the other person posted, but I can tell you that Google decides the order in which they show reviews.  There is no technical way to alter this.

I would recommend getting more positive reviews to downplay the value of this one, and as the other person said, responding professionally.
