About reviews for service businesses

When customers review your service business, they can rate specific aspects of their experience. These ratings are collected and displayed on your Business Profile. Learn more about how to read and reply to reviews.

Eligibility

All businesses can be reviewed, but only certain service businesses will have aspects of customer experience collected and shared.

Find your business’s combined rating

  1. On your computer, open Google Search.
  2. Search for your business or select it on the map.
  3. Scroll down to 'Review summary'.
  4. To filter reviews, select an aspect, like 'Price'.

How ratings work

Businesses are provided a rating for individual aspects based on user feedback:

  • Positive feedback about an aspect
  • Critical feedback about an aspect
  • Feedback unavailable: When a customer doesn’t select a specific aspect that they enjoyed or disliked, or if it’s an older review.

A business’s combined ratings are determined by dividing the number of positive ratings by the total number of ratings (except the ones where the aspect was not rated). You’re unable to change the aspects customers are asked about.

Tip: Use rating information and communicate with customers that rated aspects of your business poorly to improve your service.

How job selection works

Customers may be asked to identify what tasks your business performed. That information will be used in the review. Available tasks come from the merchant’s service list, website (if available), or the standard list of tasks based on the business type or other authoritative sources.

Tip: If a job type is unavailable, merchants can add it to their service list on Business Profile Manager.
