Understand review scores for local places & businesses

On Google Search and Maps, you can find the following information about local places and businesses:
  • Review scores
  • Top reviews
  • Total number of reviews

All scores are rated on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 as the highest rating.

Find how scores are calculated

The review score is calculated from user ratings and a variety of other factors. These calculations make sure the overall score best reflects the quality of the business or place.

Tip: After someone leaves a new review, it may take up to 2 weeks to get an updated review score.

Find how we use reviews from other sites

In some cases, Business Profiles may show customer reviews from other local review sites. These reviews are automatically generated based on information Google gathers from the web.

If you have any concerns about reviews from other sites, reach out directly to the originating site. Learn how to get reviews on Google.
