How to add & remove owners & managers for your Business Profile

People who own a business can invite other people to help manage it. Each person can have their own way to get into the business page. Owners and managers can do different things on the page.

  • Only owners can update users
  • Managers can remove themselves from a profile.
  • Google Groups can’t be added as managers or owners.
  • Only the primary owner can transfer primary ownership.

Add owners & managers

  1. Go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile.
  2. Click Menu Menu  and then  Business Profile settings  and then  People and access.
  3. At the top left, click Add Invite new users.
  4. Enter a name or email address.
  5. Under "Access", choose Owner or Manager.
  6. Click Invite.

Tips:

  • Invitees will have the option to accept the invitation and immediately become users. When they accept your invitation, you’ll get a notification email. Users in the account can find the names and email addresses of the owners and managers.
  • You can find all active users and people who are invited to become users. To cancel pending invitations, click Removein the row.

New owners & managers

New owners and managers of a business profile have to wait 7 days before they can do everything. During these 7 days, they can't:

  • Delete or undo a delete.
  • Remove other owners or managers.
  • Make themselves or someone else the primary owner.

If the new owner or manager deletes their account within the first 7 days, they'll be removed from the business page. If they change their mind, they'll need to be added again.

Tip: If an owner or manager tries to change who is in charge of the business page in their first 7 days, it won't work.

Remove owners & managers

  1. Go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile.
  2. Click Menu   Menu  and then  Business Profile settings and then Managers.
  3. Click the person you'd like to remove and then Remove person.

If you can't click Remove Remove, it could mean that:

  • If you want to remove the main owner of a business page, you first need to make someone else the main owner. Then, you can remove the old owner. Learn how to transfer primary ownership.
  • If you're just a manager, you can't remove other owners or managers.

If you remove a user, they'll get an email. They won't be able to change anything on the business page or do anything special. But the things they said online  before will still be there.

Change access of owners & managers

  1. Go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile.
  2. Click Menu   Menu  and then  Business Profile settings and then Managers.
  3. Click the person you want to change access.
  4. Select the role: Primary owner, Owner or Manager.
  5. Click Save.  

Tip: If you're the primary owner, you can transfer ownership.
