Merge duplicate Business Profiles

This article is for businesses that appear twice on Google Maps. If your profile doesn’t show because it’s marked as a duplicate, go to Profiles marked as duplicate.

Eligibility to merge Profiles

To merge two Business Profiles, you must genuinely represent the same business at the same location. For more info, check the eligibility guidelines.

Suggest an edit or remove a duplicate profile

Important: When you move to a new location, don’t create a new Business Profile. For more info, go to Add or edit your business address.

Report a duplicate or suggest a merge on Google Maps

If you want to update info on a place, you can report a suggestion.

Suggestions are subject to review. The reviews between the two Profiles are combined, but replies to reviews may be lost. For the merge to be successful, the businesses have to be the same and should have the same info.

Report a nonexistent business and remove it from Google Maps

If you want to remove a nonexistent business page from Google Maps, you can mark a place as nonexistent. The request is subject to review. If the change is accepted, the business page is removed from Maps along with any reviews, photos and posts associated with it.

Remove a Profile from your account

If the same business appears twice in your account and on Maps, you can remove one from your account settings. If you remove a profile, you’ll lose the reviews, photos, and posts associated with it. To avoid this, you can suggest an edit instead.

Tip: Usually, if you edit your business address, reviews are automatically associated with the new address. Learn how to move your review across Business Profiles.

Examples of businesses that are eligible to be merged:

  • A beauty boutique that shows up both as a hair salon and as an eyebrow bar on Google Maps.
Tip: If you offer different services, add or edit your services. Do not add a separate business page.
  • A business profile that shows up twice on Google Maps, with the same location, phone number, address and same names.

Examples of businesses that aren’t eligible to be merged:

  • Two distinct shops in a mall that have different names, clearly visible differences in signage and operate as two distinct businesses.
  • A business that has rebranded significantly. For more info, check the rebranding guidelines.

When to contact support

Contact support if you:

  • Already suggested an edit to report a duplicate and you haven’t heard back within 72 hours
  • Accidentally created a new profile instead of updating your physical address

After you contact support, your request is reviewed. If needed, the Profiles are merged. Reviews are combined between the two Profiles, but replies to reviews may be lost.
