Auction packages

Learn how to create and manage your auction packages

An auction package is a collection of open auction inventory specified by targeting criteria set by you or other buyer accounts. While you can create an auction package yourself, you also have the option of subscribing to packages created by other buyers or Google sales teams.

Auction packages allow buyers to:

  • Package quality inventory that can be easily shared across multiple buyers, spanning DSPs.
  • Target using a large selection of criteria, including some Real-Time Bidding (RTB) signals that may not have been integrated by demand-side platforms (DSPs).
  • Target multiple public Marketplace packages.

Each auction package will be assigned an ID that is exposed as a deal ID in RTB callout. Note that although auction package inventory is bid on using the Deal ID, bids will compete directly with open auction bids from other buyers. Auction packages should be targeted the same way open auction inventory is targeted because pretargeting configurations set up to only receive deals inventory won't receive requests from auction package inventory.

Direct: Authorized sellers that directly own the inventory being monetized, as indicated by a DIRECT declaration in the respective ads.txt or app-ads.txt file.

Reseller: Authorized sellers that do not directly own the inventory being monetized, as indicated by a RESELLER declaration in the respective ads.txt or app-ads.txt file.

Even though the Auction Package is targeting a specific URL, not all the available traffic with that particular URL will have the Auction Package ID (deal ID). Only a part of it will have the Auction Package ID to allow the buyer to bid on it.

Based on the bidding activity, this inventory with Auction Package ID (deal ID) will increase and then they can start to see more inventory with Auction Package ID (deal ID). Otherwise, the minimum inventory assigned to the Auction Package will have the deal ID

Target public marketplace packages in an auction package

Bookmark your public marketplace packages for easier targeting. Learn more about marketplace packages.

Sign in to your Authorized Buyers account at google.com/authorizedbuyers and navigate to Marketplace, then Auction packages.

  1. Click Create Auction Package
  2. Enter a name and description for the auction package.
  3. In the “Marketplace package targeting” section, expand “Your bookmarks” to view all your bookmarked public marketplace packages. You can view your bookmarked public marketplace packages with the publisher name appended to the front and sorted alphabetically.
  4. Select at least one marketplace package.
  5. (optional) Select targeting criteria. Marketplace package selections have an AND relationship with each of the other targeting configurations.
  6. Click Save.
Your auction package is assigned a Deal ID, configure your DSP to bid on it. In addition, you can share this Deal ID with other buyers so that they can review and subscribe to your auction package.

Marketplace package selections intersect with each of the other pretargeting configurations as an AND relationship. Any Marketplace Package targeting will be overlaid on top of any existing pretargeting configurations.

Examples

  • Without Marketplace package targeting, an auction package may target all available Open Auction CTV inventory in the United States.
  • With Marketplace package targeting, an auction package can target CTV inventory in the United States from certain Marketplace packages you select. If the selected Marketplace package doesn't have any inventory in the United States, then there will be zero eligible traffic.

Currently, only public Marketplace packages can be targeted
