Google assistant tone and voice dialing does not work

Google Community Search Widget 21Dec2022

Received Emails from Google Regarding Search Widget problems on 19Dec2022. Implimented all of their suggestions after reinstalling all of the updates to Google at 20:11 on 19Dec2022.
 (13.48.11.26.arm64)

1st Email from Google:

1) Open your device's Settings app .
2) Open Accessibility, Switch Access Settings.
3) On the Switch Access settings screen, tap Speech, sound & vibration.
4) Turn ON Sound setting.
5) If no resolve, repost issue on the Google Assistant help community
__________

The only things that were not turned on were the switch access and Speech, sound & vibration setting (which have never been turned on since 2018, so obviously, the recent updates have changed the required configuration requirements if it continues to work long-term).

They are both turned on now.

2nd Email from Google:
Try the following steps:

On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
Under "All settings," tap Personalization.
Turn Personal results ON

(Personal results for BOTH the assistant AND Google have always been on, so nothing had to be done). "Hey Google" is not, and has never been turned on since I bought my first smart phone in 2018, but the assistant is enabled.

As with previous attempts, the search tone and phone voice dialing worked right after the updates were installed. Previously, things would work OK for an indeterminate amount of time, and then stopped working.

This time is no different. This morning, 20Dec2022, it behaves the same as all previous fix attempts; no tone and voice dialing a phone call does not work, so assistance is still needed to troubleshoot AND FIX this problem.

I uninstalled all updates to Google and both the tone and voice dialing work again; I guess I'll just have to keep uninstalling all the Google updates everytime Google updates itself automatically, WITHOUT PERMISSION, in order to use voice dialing until this problem is resolved.

I have screen prints of all my settings to send to Google if they would open active, 2-way direct communication between me and their support team.

James M, a Platinum Product Expert, was the responder who assisted me with the 2 suggestions above that I tried, with no luck. I would like to continue the dialog in order to assist Google in getting this problem resolved for the benefit of all people having this problem.

Hi Douglas, welcome

I understand your problem. You have done all the troubleshooting steps before so i just wanted to confirm and see whether battery optimisation for Google assistant is enabled or not, if enabled please disable it and try using the Google assistant and let me know how it goes.

No worries if it's not working, I'll find workaround for you and we'll do this together.
Thanks

Google updated itself again after I uninstalled all google updates, (13.48.11.26.arm64), on 30Dec2022 at about 10:00 and the tone and voice dialing briefly worked. Phone battery at 65%. This lasted about 2 hours and then reverted to non- functionslity. As of 01Jan2023, the problem still exists and I have not received a response from google support through this thread. Has this problem been escalated to a higher level, or is it going to be swept under the rug? How about providing me with a way to update to a pre-early November revision of Google fhor testing?

Google updated, 05Jan2023, to version (14.1.1.26.arm64) and the Google search widget audible tone & voice dialing are still non-functional in the embedded Google Assistant version that is included with the Google app.

On a whim, I installed the separate Google Assistant app on the phone, and find that the audible tone & voice dialing work correctly in the separate Assistant app. This means that the separate parallel development that has been done to create a separate Assistant app has not been back-transferred to the complete Google app, which is supposed to have a fully-functional Google Assistant embedded in it.

Take the functional Google Assistant subroutine/module that is in the separate Assistant app & replace the non-functional/broken Google Assistant subroutine/module that is in the full-blown Google app. Google is supposed to include Assistant. Modular software should be just that, modular, if written correctly.
