How to report fradulent apps to Google
As we advent with technology, there are a lot of apps available out there to help us, benefit us, and at the same time stress us. So it is very important to stay aware/conscious of the apps you are using.
I've crafted this guide to assist individuals contemplating an application that might lead to potential harm or stress, providing insights on how to report such instances and contribute to the resolution.
Focus on your need
Focus on your need
It is always ok to try out different games/apps, download them, and have them for a long time and it depends on the people who are using them.
Apart from the people's interest in using the apps, there are some apps that can make us download without any need for us to fulfill from that app, so stay aware when you are downloading an app, and rethink whether the app is needed or not.
Best Practices: Always recognize the apps
- Excessive Permission Requests: Apps that request access to sensitive data, such as contacts, location, or microphone access, should be scrutinized closely. If the app's functionality doesn't justify these permissions, it's a cause for concern.
- Suspicious App Behavior: Apps that constantly bombard users with notifications, redirect them to unfamiliar websites, or exhibit unexpected behavior should be investigated further. These actions may indicate malicious intent or a poorly designed app.
- Negative User Reviews: Before downloading an app, take the time to read user reviews. A pattern of negative feedback, especially regarding privacy concerns or app performance issues, can serve as a warning sign.
Report it to Google
1. If you’re unhappy with an app you’ve found on Google Play, you can flag it.
2. If you think the app is associated with problems including restricted content, impersonation, intellectual property, privacy, monetization, store listing and promotion, spam, malware, families, and other programs, then you can report it here.
And, post in the Google Play Community, so that Product Experts can escalate it to the Google Play team for review, while posting, please give us detailed info about why you think the app is reportable.
Summary: If you think an app violates one of our Developer Program Policies, you can report it here directly.

3. If you think an app violates your rights or applicable laws, you can report it.
As a result of the report, the app can be removed or you will receive a notification about the info about why the app can't be removed.
Report it to Local Police services
Report it to Local Police services
Sometimes, it is not applicable for Google to remove the app from the Google Play Store, if it follows developer policy, an app follows developer policy, mostly it will not cause any harm, but if the app should be reported, then you can report it to nearby policy stations/services. They can directly log a complaint to the cybercrime section.
Even though we have systems to report, it is always wise to act on ourselves.
Please add any comments if you have any previous experience of reporting apps and further things, and help the community.
Please note, this guide will be updated frequently with new info.
Thanks and have a great day.
