Google sleep sound not stopping after 60 mins

The google speaker has started to play the google sleep sounds all through the night. Up to last week (Aug ‘22) the speaker would play the sounds for 60 mins. Now the speaker plays these all through the night. Please help.

TEMPORARY FIX:

I have the same problem and I found a temporary solution until Google fixes it:

  1. Open Google Home
  2. Click Routines
  3. Click "+" in the bottom right to create a new routine
  4. Name it whatever you want (I named mine "Stop Sleep Sounds"
  5. Click [+ Add starter]
  6. Click At a specific time
  7. Select a time that is after you typically go to sleep (mine is 11:30pm)
  8. Set it to repeat every day
  9. Add starter in the bottom right
  10. Click [+ Add action]
  11. Click Try adding your own
  12. Type in "Stop casting to ______ speaker" with whatever speaker name you typically say goodnight to
  13. Add action in the bottom right
  14. Ensure the "Device for audio" at the bottom is set to the speaker you typically say goodnight to, or as the "Device that started the routine"
  15. Save the routine

This will have the speaker stop casting every night at the time you set. It's not perfect, like if you go to bed after the time you set, but it's worked for me so far.

Google - Fix your issues please!

I'm experiencing the same issue - it didn't function as expected and is at the end of a bedtime routine.

Also happening to me as of this same recent timeframe. It doesn't always trigger my good morning routine now either. It's like when I tap the nest mini speaker to turn off the alarm it reacts like I am pausing the "music" of sleep sounds instead. So the routine that's supposed to start from the alarm being turned off doesn't work unless I use another start, like telling it "I'm up". Not ideal.

Actually just saw this on another forum... Not ideal:

We've heard feedback that turning off sleep sounds after 1 hour was insufficient for some of our users, so we made the decision to remove the end time. We're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution and appreciate your patience.

Hi there, welcome

You can ask your assistant to stop the song after 60 mins. If not, please post this in Google nest community

Yeah this no longer seems to be working properly.
It does seem to trigger something after the set time, but in the activity it says "Sorry, I don't understand" so something is going wrong:

I've also tried setting it for 5 minutes instead, which does seem to trigger it after 5 minutes:

There's also a empty "Used Assistant" activity right after it, maybe that gives a clue as to why it's not working like it should?

In any case would love if this could be resolved because my Google Home is wasting power playing the music the whole night now.

So did the 💤 sleep sounds help?

I still have this problem.

The software engineers received feedback from other users stating that 1 hour of run time wasn't long enough. I'm assuming they didn't think of adding the ability to adjust your own run times

I have a routine which play Spotify for 20 minutes. Now it doesn't stop anymore.

I was jarred awake this morning thinking my cleaner had fiddled with the bathroom flush valve and it was running continuously. Then I realized the babbling brook whatever sound was still going after 5 hours. So let me see... SOME complained and then it was changed for ALL. How does that even begin to make sense? Change it back and give the complainers the option to play sounds for 12 hours. Who even sleeps for 12 hours? Sheesh!

Why is this so hard to fix?? I never used to set an alarm. I would tell Google to "play rain sounds for X hours". Now it does not stop. Keeps on playing until I manually turn it off?
Could we just undo the last couple of updates??? Do something???

Having the same issue. Agree with the comments above, it either needs to be reverted or something new added to please both sets of users.

Why is this taking so long to fix?

Still an issue for my home as well. I say goodnight, it locks the doors, turns the lights off, says goodnight, starts my sleep sounds, but doesn’t execute the command to stop sleep sounds after 2 hours. I fall asleep to them every night, but it’s annoying to wake up to. Started for me over 2 months ago

Well now they can have a list of people complaining about the change. This is completely broken, I use to be able to say the length of time I wanted, play rain sounds for an hour, for 2 hours, for 37 mins, etc and it worked. Now it constantly is still playing when I wake up in the morning, regardless of what I say. This needs to be fixed.

Just tested playing white noise for 30 seconds. Looks like the changes have either been reverted or fixed. 🥳

Still not working for me. Plays rain forest sounds all through the night until the morning. Used to be only 60 minutes.

Just say "Hey Google stop playing after 2 hours" or whatever time you want. I do it every night 🌙.  Or add it to your routines...my sleep schedule is different every night

It looks like google, added the option to delay actions now. So you can create a stop speaker action for later on after you initiate the first action.  So you want to start your sleep sounds and then start a delayed action and then do whatever you want to happen after a certain amount of time. I have it changing the volume to 20% and then turning off the speaker entirely in an hour the volume change for me is just so that in the morning if I ask Google some thing it doesn’t wake up people in other rooms. See my screen shot but you should be able to set it now to stop your speaker at whatever time frame you want from after you turn it on again.
