Learn how to make calls with Google Nest displays.

Devices that work with Duo

  • All Google Home and Google Nest devices
  • All speakers and Smart Displays
Important: Google no longer provides software updates for these third-party Smart Displays: Lenovo Smart Display (7", 8" & 10"), JBL Link View and LG Xboom AI ThinQ WK9 Smart Display. This could impact the quality of video calls and meetings.

Make a call

You can make Duo calls with your voice. On Smart Displays, you can also use your screen.

Important: To call your contacts, you must turn on personal results.

Use call controls

Hide contact names on Smart Displays

When someone calls your Smart Display and you have personal results turned on, your Smart Display shows their name from your Google Contacts. To hide contact names on this device, turn off personal results.

When you turn off personal results:

  • Google Assistant doesn’t use your Google Contacts.
  • You get a phone number or email on your screen instead of a contact name.
  • You can’t start a call with a contact name like “Call Maria.”
