UPDATE as of 7th December
If you’re still experiencing connectivity issues with your watch, we recommend updating to iOS 11.2.
Some users mentioned that this helped resolve their issues:

Instructions for updating your phone to iOS 11.2:
Settings app > General > Software Update > Download and apply iOS 11.2

If downloading 11.2 still doesn’t help, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
  1. Ensure that you have the latest version of the Android Wear app for your phone:
App Store > Updates > Update all
  2. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your watch:
Settings app on your watch > Connectivity > Bluetooth: ON
  3. Ensure that your watch’s apps, including essential apps from Google, are all up to date so you have the latest fixes:
Play Store app on your watch > swipe down from the top > My Apps > tap Update All and let it finish
    1. You may need to add a WiFi network to your watch:
      Settings > Connectivity > Wi-Fi > Add network
If you don’t have a connection to your phone to enter WiFi passwords, you’ll only be able to join public WiFi networks in this state
  4. Once you’ve done this, open the Android Wear app on your iPhone while keeping your watch close by and turned on
  5. While you have the Wear app open on your phone, scroll down into the notifications on your watch, looking for the Reconnect notification
  6. Tap Reconnect and your watch and phone should re-establish their link
  7. If steps 4-6 don't work after a few tries, try rebooting both devices and try steps 4-6 again
  8. If your watch is still disconnected after all this, try the steps below

If all else fails, you’ll need to start over and set-up your watch with your phone as if it was brand new:
  1. 1. On your watch:
    1. Go to Settings > Disconnect & reset and confirm. Your watch will reset itself back to its factory condition and restart itself
    2. After restarting, select your language & country and proceed to the screen where the the watch instructs you to download the Android Wear app for your phone
  2. On your iPhone:Go to Settings app > Bluetooth > tap on watch's Info icon > tap Forget this device > confirm Forget device
    1. Open the Android Wear app on your iPhone
    2. Tap on the menu with the three vertical dots in the top-right, and select Pair with new wearable

If you are having trouble pairing with your watch in step (c) above, try doing the following on your iPhone:
  1. Check to ensure that the watch has been removed from Settings > Bluetooth
  2. Run the Android Wear app.
  3. Enter the app switcher
    1. iPhone 8 and below: Double-tap the Home button to run the App switcher.
  4. Then force close the Android Wear app
    1. iPhone 8 and below: swipe up on the app
    2. iPhone X: long press on the app, then tap the red icon
  5. Uninstall the Android Wear app, by long-pressing it in the Home screen and then tapping on the X button.
  6. Open the App Store app, search for the Android Wear app, and reinstall it.
  7. Open the newly installed Android Wear app, and try pairing with your watch again.

Thank you,
Android Wear team

Same - went through all of these steps, which fixed it for a while - and now it won’t connect at all. This makes the watch useless.  Very disappointing, Google.
