Watch YouTube videos on Android TV

You can watch what you want using the YouTube app. You can also hide videos you don't want yourself or your family to see.

Find videos to watch

  1. On your Android TV, go to the Home screen.
  2. Scroll down to the "Apps" row.
  3. Select YouTube.
  4. Choose an option:
    • Browse: Move up or down to find and choose a category. You’ll see the videos in each category on the right side of the screen.
    • Search: To speak or type your search, scroll to the left and select Search Search.
  5. Select the video you want.
    • After you pick a video to play, a control bar will appear. Learn more about YouTube controls.

Hide inappropriate videos

You can decide which content is available to you and your family.
Important: These instructions only affect your Android TV. You won’t change the settings on other devices that use your YouTube account.
  • On your Android TV, go to the Home screen.
  • Scroll down to the "Apps" row.
  • Select YouTube.
  • Scroll to the left, then down and select Settings Settings and then Restricted mode and then On or Off.
