Customize your Android TV home screen

On your Android TV home screen, you can browse for shows and movies to watch. You’ll find your shows and movies you’ve started, suggested videos, and personalized recommendations. You can change some of these options.

Important: Not all Android TVs have these settings.

Change home screen settings

Add, remove & reorder channel rows

Add or remove rows

1. On your Android TV, go to the Home screen. At the top, select Settings.
2. Select Device preferences Home screen.
3. Choose Customize channels.
4. Select a channel to turn on or off.

Reorder rows

1. On the Home tab, scroll down to the row you want to move.
2. On your remote, use the D-pad to scroll to the left twice.
3. Select Reorder .
4. Move the row where you want it, then press the center D-pad button.

Control suggested shows & movies

Important: On the Home tab, you’ll find suggestions of movies and shows to watch. These suggestions are based on trending content or sponsored by media partners and can’t be turned off.

Get better suggestions

1. On a phone or computer, go to google.com.
2. At the top right, make sure you're signed in to the same account that you use on your Android TV.
3. Search for what to watch. 
4. At the top of the search results, click Services.
5. Select your subscriptions from the list. You'll get suggestions from these services in your Google Play Staff Picks and in other Google products. Learn about TV & movie recommendations.
6. Click Save.

Turn off audio or video previews

1. On your Android TV, go to the Home screen. At the top, select Settings.
2. Select Device preferences Home screen.
3. Turn off Enable video previews or Enable audio previews.

Learn more about sponsored suggestions

1. Navigate to the ad you want to learn more about. 
2. On your remote, press and hold Select.
3. Select Why this ad?

Control personalized recommendations

Important: Under Discover, you’ll find personalized recommendations based on the services you use, your watch activity, watchlist, and more. Learn more about movie & TV recommendations.

Set up personalized recommendations

1. Navigate to Discover.
2. Select Get started.
3. Sign in to your Google Account. Recommendations will be based on this account’s activity.
4. When you see “Turn on Web & App Activity,” select Turn on. Learn more about Web & App Activity.
5. Select the services you use to watch movies and shows Confirm.
   • Some services are selected by default, including services linked to your account.

Turn off personalized recommendations

1. On your Android TV, go to the Home screen. At the top, select Settings.
2. Select Device preferences Home screen.
3. Under “Discover,” select Sign out Yes, sign out.

Manage your Watchlist

You can add shows or movies you want to watch later to your Watchlist. These titles show up as a row in the Discover tab.

1. From the Discover tab, browse for the title you want to add to your Watchlist.
2. Open the title’s details page.
3. Select Watchlist .

Tip: When you add content to your Watchlist, you can find it on any device where you log in.

Add & find apps

On the Apps tab, you’ll find all the apps you’ve installed. To choose an app, use the D-pad on your remote and then select it. Learn how to get and manage apps.

What’s on your home screen

At the top, you’ll find several tabs you can navigate to:

• Search: Speak or type your search. Learn more about the Google Assistant on Android TV.
• Home: Quickly find suggested content, apps you’ve downloaded, and movies and shows you haven’t finished yet.
• Discover: Get personalized recommendations based on watch history, interests, and new trends.
• Apps: Find all the apps you’ve downloaded and suggested apps. Learn how to download apps.
• Settings: Change settings for your account or your device.
