Enter payment info automatically in apps

You can save your credit and debit cards to Google Pay to pay for items later. When you enter info in a new form in an app, your phone could ask you to save that info.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.1 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Turn off requests to save payment info

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Security & privacy and then More privacy settings and then Autofill service from Google.
  3. Turn off Use Autofill with Google.

Change where your info is saved

To choose which app or service saves your payment info:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Passwords & accounts.
  3. Under "Autofill service," tap Google.
  4. Choose an option. If you don’t see the option you want, tap   Add service.

Turn off fingerprint or face ID authentication

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Google and then Autofill and then Autofill with Google and then Preferences.
  3. On the "Authentication required" page, enter your PIN or fingerprint.
  4. Under "Security," turn off Authenticate with biometrics before filling payment cards.

Where your payment info is saved

When you make a purchase on your device, it could ask whether you want Google to save your card info. If you accept, your info will be saved to Google Wallet.

Tip: To make sure that you're the owner of the card, Google may do a low-value credit card authorization when the card is entered or saved from an Android app. This appears on your card statement as "GOOGLE * TEMPORARY HOLD." Google will cancel this security measure shortly.
