Learn about Health Connect

With the Health Connect app, you can share health, fitness, and medical info with multiple applications and keep full control over your personal data on your Android device.

Based on the permissions you choose, apps send data to Health Connect, which then stores data on your device and makes it available to other applications. This gives each connected app a better grasp of your health and wellness needs at any given time.

For example, with Health Connect, your nutrition app can read your step count that your fitness tracking app has written into Health Connect to provide you with a comprehensive view of your calories for the day.

How Health Connect uses your data

Health Connect is a database that's stored on your device. This means that Google doesn’t use the cloud to store data that’s sent to Health Connect by connected applications.

You can keep full control over your data. You can delete all your data from Health Connect, in addition to:

  • Specific data types
  • Specific data entries
  • Specific categories of data
  • All data from a previously connected app

When you delete data, the data is deleted from your device’s Health Connect database. Other apps or devices may have a copy of your data. If you want to delete your data from those apps or devices, you may need to delete the data on each individual app or device. You can’t delete individual data entries of medical records.

To protect your data, apps have to declare what information they collect and share before they’re allowed to use Health Connect. Learn more about our policy requirements.
