Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties include several measurement and reporting features specifically designed to benefit sales and ecommerce sites and apps. For example:
- The
in_app_purchase
event that you pass in an iOS or Android data stream is automatically counted as a key event in GA4. - You can configure two recommended events,
add_to_wishlist
andview_cart
, to enhance your ecommerce purchase measurement process. - The recommended retail/ecommerce events automatically appear in the Monetization Overview report and the Ecommerce purchases report.
Report on online sales
Funnel explorations are particularly useful for understanding online purchase behavior and identifying opportunities for optimization. You can use the funnel exploration to map and optimize specific events that you send as part of the checkout flow.
If your property uses the User-ID reporting identity, reports and explorations in GA4 are cross-platform and cross-device: steps that a user initiates on one device or platform are integrated with steps that the user completes on another device or platform, giving you a more complete view of your users' behavior.
