About non-certified pixels for video ads

Last January it was announced that YouTube will stop accepting most third-party measurement pixels. As of May 21, 2018, only a small group of third-party vendors will be certified for measurement on YouTube.

What’s changing

To ensure compliance with this new policy, the Google Ads team will remove from all video ads all pixels from non-certified vendors and all certified pixels that make fourth-party calls to non-certified vendors. These removals may happen between May 14, 2018 and May 18, 2018.

In removing the pixel, the existing ad will be removed and a new video ad will be automatically created for you, just like any edit to an existing video ad. Unless your account has been authorized to continue running the impacted ads, these newly created ads will be paused to prevent them from serving without tracking pixels.

How to find your impacted ads

Two labels will be automatically applied to the impacted video ads in your account.

Label: Autogenerated: Decertified pixels removed [2018.05]

This label will be applied to all video ads that had a pixel removed.

Label: Autogenerated: Newly paused after pixel removal [2018.05]

This label will be applied to all previously running video ads that have been paused as a result of a pixel removal.

The following instructions are to find these labels in your account in the new version of Google Ads. If you’re using the previous version of Google Ads, click here to read how to create, use, and manage labels.

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the "Appearance" icon, and select Use previous design. If you're using the previous version of Google Ads, review the Quick reference map or use the Search bar in the top navigation panel of Google Ads to find the page you’re searching for.
  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon.
  2. Click the Campaigns drop down in the section menu.

How to enable (unpause) your impacted ads

You can get your paused ads up and running again either individually (ad by ad) or in bulk by filtering using the labels above.
