In September 2024, Google will update the Cryptocurrencies and related products policy to clarify the scope and requirements for the advertisement of cryptocurrency related business and services.
Beginning from 20 September 2024, advertisers offering cryptocurrency exchanges targeting Switzerland may advertise those products and services when they meet the following requirements and are certified by Google.
Cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallets
Google allows ads promoting cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrency wallets targeting Switzerland as long as the advertiser is licensed for the advertised activities from the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) in Switzerland. Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
Hardware wallets
Google allows ads promoting hardware wallets that are designed to hold the private keys of cryptocurrencies, NFTs or other crypto-based assets, but do not offer additional services such as purchasing, selling, exchanging or trading assets. Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
Advertisers must also be certified with Google.
As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with the local laws for any area that their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these financial products. For more details, see About restricted financial products certification.
Violations of this policy will not lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued, at least 7 days before any suspension of your account.
