In January 2023, Google will update the Financial products and services policy to clarify the scope and requirements for the advertisement of cryptocurrency related business and services.
Beginning 10 January 2023, advertisers offering Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets targeting Bahrain and Finland may advertise those products and services when they meet the following requirements and are certified by Google.
Bahrain (Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets)
Google allows ads promoting cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrency wallets targeting Bahrain as long as the advertiser holds the appropriate Crypto-Asset Services licence from the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
Finland (Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets)
Google allows ads promoting cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrency wallets targeting Finland as long as the advertiser holds the appropriate registration as a virtual currency provider with the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority ('FIN-FSA'). Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with the local laws for any area that their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these financial products. For more details, see About restricted financial products certification.
Violations of this policy will not lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued, at least seven days, before any suspension of your account.
