Updates to Abusing the Ad Network policy (May 2021)

In May 2021, we will reorganise our Abusing the Ad Network policy for improved readability and understanding. Certain policy actions and corresponding messaging to Google advertisers will include updated policy names. These changes will impact what is currently restricted or prohibited per our policies.

What’s changing:

  • Policy guidelines related to 'text manipulation' that are currently enforced under the 'Circumventing Systems' policy will be moved to a new independent policy called 'Evasive Ad Content' within the Abusing the Ad Network policy category.
  • Under this new 'Evasive Ad Content' policy topic, we will extend the prohibited manipulations of trademark terms in ad text to domains, subdomains and logos, prohibit usage of invisible UNICODE characters in ads that add no value to the ad content for users and disallow manipulations of images or videos to hide policy violating content.

We will begin enforcing the policy updates on 4 May 2021.

Violations of this policy won't lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued at least seven days prior to any suspension of your account. Learn more about suspended accounts.
