Please note that the following post is specific to Site disapprovals, and not Application approvals. If your application has been disapproved please visit this help center article for more information.
We are always excited to see publishers expanding their presence on Adsense :).
Our review process usually takes a couple of days, however in some instances it can take a few weeks
. During this review process publishers might receive a notification letting them know their site is not ready to serve ads just yet, and we’re here to help clarify some of those notifications.
The most common reasons a site(s) might have been disapproved includes:
I. The code is missing or incomplete
If you receive this type of notification it indicates that our bots were not able to locate AdSense ad code between the <head> and </head> tags on the HTML of your site. Here’s a quick checklist to refer to in case you receive this notification:
Did you paste the code into the HTML of your site?
Did you paste the code between the <head> and </head> tags?
Did you paste the code into the site you used to sign up for AdSense?
If you’re using Wordpress, please reference this help center article
for more information about how to connect your site and insert ad code.
Pro-Tip: If you’ve checked off all of the points on the checklist above, but you still keep receiving a notification saying ‘The code is missing or incomplete,’ check your ad code! Sometimes publishers accidentally modify the ad code so it’s always best to go back into your account and copy and paste the ad code verbatim in order to ensure ads will be able to serve.
II. Your site doesn’t have enough unique content or provide a good user experience
If you receive this type of notification it could indicate that your site may be missing navigational elements (for example, menu tabs), may contain a high amount of duplicate content, or does not contain a sufficient amount of original content.
If you’ve received this type of notification, ask yourself:
Are my users able to easily navigate my site? Is my content well organized enough for users to find what they’re looking for within my site?
How does my content differ from similar sites discussing the same trending topics?
Is my content more text-based or image-based, and how can I balance out the two elements?
Am I ensuring I’m providing sufficient content in relation to how many ads I’d like to serve on the page?
III. Your site is unreachable
If you receive this type of notification it could indicate that your site is down, it’s behind a login page, or our bots cannot crawl the site. Here’s a quick checklist to refer to in case you receive this notification:
Is your site up and running? Make sure your site is published and live on the web.
Can AdSense access your site without a password? If your site is login protected, consider temporarily removing the login so that we can reach your site. Note that after your account has been successfully activated, you can create a crawler login to display Google ads on your login-protected pages
Can the AdSense crawler access your site? Make sure you're not blocking our crawler in your robots.txt file
Does your site have a valid SSL Certificate from a recognized certification authority (not a self-signed certificate) and does it also redirect HTTP to HTTPS? (Only applicable if you're using HTTPS)
IV. Your site has policy violations
If you receive this type of notification it indicates that there are policy violations on your site which need resolving before your site is ready. For more information, review our Program policies
If you’re unable to find a policy violation within your Policy center
, or did not receive an email from our internal approvals team informing you what needs to be fixed, please don’t hesitate to search or post in this forum so our community members can further assist you.
Hopefully these insights help you fix any pending issues on your site(s). When ready, you can request another site review directly from the Policy center of your AdSense account.
If we didn’t address a disapproval reason you might have received, or if you have any questions in regards to the reasons we’ve discussed, please feel free to search or post in this forum so our community members can further assist you.
