Display ads

About display ads

Display ads are graphical ads offered in several formats. You can see examples of each of these formats on our Example display ads page.

Display ads compete in the same auction for your ad space that text ads do. So, choosing to show both text and display ads increases the competition for ads to appear on your site, and may help you earn more. Google's technology determines on a page-by-page basis which ads are likely to make you more money, and serves those ads to your page.

Note that display ads are only displayed on content pages, not on AdSense for search results pages.

Will I earn more with display ads?

We can't guarantee that you'll earn more by showing display ads. However, by choosing to show display ads in addition to text ads, you can help ensure that you'll have all available advertisers bidding to appear on your site. Both text and display ads will compete in the same auction to appear on your pages, and we'll automatically show the ad(s) that we expect to earn you the most.

Will display ads slow my page load time?

Google display ads are limited to 150KB in size, and should have a minimal effect on load time for most sites.
