Verify a test deposit from Google

To receive payments by EFT, you need to verify your bank account using a test deposit. A test deposit is a small amount (less than £1) sent by Google to 'test' your bank account.

We do this to make sure that when we send your actual payment, we send it to the correct bank account. You can check if you've received it by accessing your bank statement or asking your local bank.

You won't find the test deposit in your bank statement right away – this process takes 2–5 working days. Please wait until you have the actual amount deposited in your bank account before you enter it in your AdSense account. Watch this video to review the process of adding EFT and verifying the test deposit.

After you receive your test deposit, follow these steps to verify your bank account:

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Payments, then Payments info.

You'll have a red alert in your AdSense account.

  3. Click Add payment method.
  4. Click Verify now.
  5. In the drop-down menu, select the test deposit amount that you received in your bank statement.
  6. Click Verify.

If the amounts match, then your bank account has been verified. You're now ready to receive payments by EFT.

Test deposit FAQs

Here are answers to some questions that you may have about test deposits:

What if I haven't received my test deposit after 10 working days?

If you don’t receive your test deposit after 10 working days, it's likely that you've provided incorrect bank account details. In this case, we advise you to:

  1. Contact your bank to make sure that you have the correct bank account details.
  2. Add a new payment method with your updated bank account details, set it as your primary payment method and wait for your test deposit.
  3. Remove your old payment details.

Is there any way to verify my bank account without a test deposit?

No. Your bank account needs to be verified with a test deposit before we can send you an actual payment. This is a precaution for security reasons, to make sure that your payment reaches you.

Note: You don’t need to verify your account with a test deposit in the following countries or territories: Bulgaria, Gibraltar, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Romania and South Africa.

Where can I find my test deposit?

Depending on which country your bank is located, the test deposit appears in your bank account under one of the following labels:

  • AFS RE GOOGLE
  • AFS RE GOOGLE ADSENSE
  • ARVATO FINANCE SERVICES LIMITED
  • BFS FINANCE LTD
  • CITIBANK IRELAND FINANCIAL SERVICES
  • Google AdSense Payment

I received a test deposit but I still can’t verify my bank account. What should I do?

If you received your test deposit but haven't been able to successfully verify your bank account, here's what might have happened:

  • Your bank applied a commission to your test deposit so that the amount that we sent you is not the same as the amount that you received. Please contact your bank to confirm the exact test deposit that you received before the commission was applied, and then enter the amount in your AdSense account.
  • You attempted to enter your test deposit a maximum of three times and you've been blocked from entering it again. Contact AdSense support to help you resolve this issue.
