Allow JavaScript in your browser

This article describes how to allow JavaScript in Google Chrome, which is required to display some media, including some Google ads. It also provides links to the documentation to turn on, activate, or enable JavaScript in other popular browsers.

Allow JavaScript in Google Chrome

You can set permissions in Google Chrome for all sites, or for specific sites you choose. To set permissions for JavaScript:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More options then Settings.
  3. Click Privacy and security, then Site settings, then JavaScript.
  4. Select Sites can use JavaScript as the default behavior.

From this screen, you can also add sites not allowed to use JavaScript, or choose "Don't allow sites to use JavaScript" as the default behavior, and then choose specific sites that are allowed.

Turn on JavaScript in other browsers

Follow the instructions provided by your browser:

Factors that may affect your browsers JavaScript setting

Browser upgrades, security software, or patches may change a JavaScript setting. If you have problems viewing Google ads, you should confirm that JavaScript is allowed in your browser.

Some browsers allow you to set the JavaScript setting to "Prompt," which displays a warning when JavaScript is required. In these instances, if a Google ad requires JavaScript, users have the option to give permission to load the content.

If you still experience problems, review the most common reason ads don't show.
