Create a Performance Max project and add assets

Performance Max is an advertising campaign type that lets you access inventory, formats, and audiences across all of Google's channels. Ads Creative Studio helps you build an asset group for your Performance Max campaign according to best practices. You can validate assets against requirements, preview assets in sample ads, share a preview sheet with reviewers, and export the assets to Google Ads.

Create a new project

  1. Sign in to Ads Creative Studio.
  2. On the Projects page, click New and then Performance Max.
  3. Enter a name for the new project.
  4. Click Create. This will create a new project where you can start adding assets.

Add assets

The project page is divided into three sections:

  1. Assets: Add images, text, and videos.
  2. Asset checklist: Check that you've added the recommended number of assets.
  3. Preview: See example ads with your assets.

Assets

The following asset types are supported:

  • Text: headlines, long headlines, descriptions, and business name
  • Image: images and logos
  • Video

Review the full guidelines for Performance Max asset groups.

Text

You can enter headlines, long headlines, descriptions, and the business name in the text fields on the Assets panel.

Text asset types such as final URL, call to action, and display URL path can be set in Google Ads.

Add text
  1. If there isn't a blank field for the type of text asset you want to add, click Add.
    • If you don't see the Add button, you've already added the maximum number of text assets of that type.
  2. Enter text in one of the blank fields for headlines, descriptions, or business name.
Remove text

Delete text from the field where you added it until the field is blank.

Images

For images and logos, you can select images from the asset library or upload image files of supported types. Uploaded images will be available in the asset library for future use in Ads Creative Studio.

Asset checklist

Use the checklist to track whether you've added the recommended number of assets for each asset type and aspect ratio. The checklist automatically updates as you add and remove assets.

Completed recommendations are indicated by a checkmark .

The recommended dimensions listed for images and videos are for your guidance only and aren't reflected in the completion of checklist items.

Preview

The preview cycles through example ads using the assets that you've added, or placeholders if you haven't yet provided the right type of asset. Not every possible combination of assets will be shown.
