Create a new conversion

Conversions can no longer be created in AdMob. The Conversions table will continue to display a read-only list of the conversions you’ve created in AdMob and Google Ads.

Going forward, all conversions should be created in Google Ads and tracked using the Firebase SDK. If you’re setting up conversion tracking in Google Ads for the first time, follow the instructions to track conversions with Firebase.

Conversion tracking is a tool in AdMob that helps you measure the effectiveness of your campaigns by recording conversion events in your mobile apps.

Before you get started

Things to keep in mind before setting up conversion tracking:

  • Conversion types: You can set up only one app install (from Google Play) conversion and one app install (first open) conversion per app at any given time. Example: "The Best App Ever!" can only have one app install (first open) conversion associated with it. Trying to make a second app install (first open) conversion for "The Best App Ever!" results in an error.
  • Android apps: No app updates required for App install (from Google Play) conversions. For other conversion types, you'll need to include a conversion tracking snippet in your app's code.
  • iOS apps: You'll need to include a conversion tracking snippet in your app's code.

Create a conversion

Complete the following steps to set up conversion tracking.

  1. Sign in to your AdMob account at https://apps.admob.com.
  2. Click Campaigns in the sidebar.
  3. Click the Conversions tab.
  4. Click + New conversion.
  5. Select the app you want to associate the conversion to by using one of the following methods:
    • Search for your app: Search Google Play or the iTunes App Store for your app, then click + Select beside the app.
    • Select from apps you have added: In the list of apps you've already added to AdMob, click + Select beside the app.
  6. Enter the conversion settings. App installs (from Google Play) [Android only]
    • Name: Enter the name you want to assign to this conversion action. It should be descriptive, and we recommend including the type of conversion. Example: My Awesome App! Android app install, The Best App Ever! iOS first open
    • Source: Select the type of conversion action you want to track.
    • Value: Enter a value for each conversion event. Example: If your app retails for $2.99, you might want to enter a slightly lower value as the value/conversion.
The Value field defaults to the currency set for your Google Ads account.
    • Optimization: Check the box to use the Optimization setting and include the conversions in the "All conv." column.
