AdChoices for the Google Display Network
AdChoices is an industry standard icon that expands to when users move their cursor over the icon. When users click this label, they go to a page hosted by Google which contains text specified by the IAB, the Ads Settings --where you can control the types of ads (e.g., Arts & Entertainment or Travel) you see on the Google Display Network, and to the youronlinechoices page--a guide to online behavioral advertising and online privacy.
The icon is 19x15 pixels when collapsed and 76x15 pixels when expanded . The icon appears either in the top right corner of display ads or the bottom right corner of text ad units.Example in display ads
What buyers need to knowAll text, static image, and third-party ad served ads, will have the new in-ads notice when appearing on publisher pages in the Google Display Network, except for publishers who render their own ads with JS/XML feeds.
What publishers need to do to be compliant
- If you’re using Google’s iframe ad unit implementation, no action is needed.
- If you’ve implemented your own ad unit with JS/XML or are using a Direct iFrame, you will need to switch to the standard iFrame implementation or update your code to be compliant with the new guidelines.
Any ads shown on the Google Display Network that appear on English and EMEA language publisher pages will show the in-ads icon if the publisher is using standard iFrame implementations. All partners who use the standard Google iFrame ad unit implementation serving ads in one of the supported languages will start seeing an in-ads icon automatically (translated to the appropriate language).
If you see the old icon on ads showing on some sites and the new one on others, you need to implement this change yourself.
