Submit seller IDs

Required steps for MCM parents

As part of an update to the SupplyChain Object, MCM Manage Inventory parents must submit seller IDs for their child publishers.

You can use the child's network code as the seller ID, or you can create a seller ID.

The seller ID:

  • must be included in your sellers.json and ads.txt files.
  • can have up to 64 characters (alphanumeric only).
  • must be unique to that child.

Step 1: Confirm your settings

Confirm you're marked as transparent in Ad Manager and have the correct business domain listed in your Ad Manager account for sellers.json.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin and then Global settings and then Ad Exchange account settings.
  3. Next to “Sellers.json transparency,” confirm transparency is enabled .
Note: For MCM parents (intermediary accounts), the switch is on by default and can't be turned off.
  4. Under “Sellers.json business domain,” confirm your business domain is correct.
Note: If you haven’t enabled transparency or didn’t provide a business domain, please follow the instructions to update your information. The business domain is the domain for your corporate entity, not necessarily the domain where inventory is being monetized.

Make sure all your MCM Manage Inventory child publishers have a valid ads.txt file on their sites where Google is listed as "Reseller," and the parent is listed as "Direct." For example:

  • MCM-parent-example.com, Seller-ID for the MCM child, DIRECT
Note that this is an example. Be sure to replace "MCM-parent-example.com" with the domain of the MCM parent.
  • google.com, PUB ID* for the MCM parent, RESELLER, f08c47fec0942fa0
*Note that this ID is your seller ID within Google's seller.json file,
and the same as your publisher ID.

Step 2: Choose an implementation method

Provide the seller IDs for each of your Manage Inventory child publishers using Ad Manager (individually or at scale) or Ad Manager API.

Note: For new (not yet existing) child publishers, parents can provide the seller ID for the child either when inviting the child to MCM or after the child account is approved.

Submit one child seller ID in Ad Manager

Choose this method to submit one child seller ID.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin and then Multiple Customer Management and then Child publisher.
  3. Choose an option:
    • Under “Child publisher,” click a child publisher’s name.
    •  Under “Child seller ID,” click Edit for a child publisher.
  4. Enter the child seller ID.
    Note:
    • If the child’s setup isn’t currently supported, you’ll get an error message. Please contact your account manager with any questions.
    • A seller ID can include up to 64 characters, alphanumeric only.
  5. Click Save.

Submit multiple child seller IDs in Ad Manager

Choose this method to submit multiple child seller IDs at once.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin and then Multiple Customer Management and then Child publisher.
  3. Click Download child publishers.
The download is limited to the first page of search results.
The download includes the publishers shown on the page. To download up to 100 publishers, click "Show rows" and select 100. If you have more than 100, download each additional page.
  4. Click Upload and then add your file.
    Note:
    • To prevent errors, the formatting of the CSV should be as follows: [Child Publisher ID], [Child Seller ID]. If the child’s setup isn’t currently supported, you’ll get this error message: “Seller ID not supported for this child publisher.” Please contact your account manager with any questions.
    • A seller ID can include up to 64 characters, alphanumeric only.
  5. Click Save.

Use the Ad Manager API

Child seller IDs can be read or updated through the CompanyService using the Company.childPublisher.sellerId field (available in v202202). Learn More

  • To update a child’s seller ID, set the Company.childPublisher.sellerId field and call CompanyService.updateCompanies.

The child seller ID can also be read by selecting the SellerId column (available in v202202) on the child_publisher table through the PublisherQueryLanguageService. Learn More

Example code for the CompanyService and PublisherQueryLanguageService is available for all our languages on GitHub.  If you have issues using these methods, visit API Common Errors

Note: If the child’s setup isn’t currently supported, you’ll get NullError [1] with a field path that points to "childPublisher.sellerId.” Please contact your account manager with any questions.
