Publish and unpublish messages

When you first create a message, its status is set to “Draft" by default. Messages you want to display to users need to be published to change their status to "Published." Unpublishing a message will stop it from being shown to users by resetting the status to "Draft."

Publishing a message

Complete the following steps to publish a message:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Privacy & messaging.
  3. Click Manage on one of the message type cards on the Privacy & messaging page.
  4. In the list of messages, turn on the toggle in the row with the draft message you want to be shown to eligible users. A confirmation message is displayed.
  5. Click Yes. The message status changes to "Published." It may take up to 10 minutes before eligible users see the message.
The Google User Messaging Platform SDK must appear in your app code for the published message to be displayed to users. The Google Publisher Tags (GPT) ad tag must appear in your site code for the published message to be displayed.

Unpublishing a message

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Privacy & messaging.
  3. Click Manage on one of the message type cards on the Privacy & messaging page.
  4. In the list of messages, turn off the toggle in the row with the message that you want to stop showing to users. A confirmation message is displayed.
  5. Click Yes. The message status changes to "Draft." It may take up to 10 minutes before users stop seeing the message.
When you unpublish a message, the default configurations of your ad serving systems apply.
