"This browser or app may not be secure" error when trying to sign in with Google on desktop apps

When trying to sign in with my personal Google account on desktop apps made with the Electron framework (native wrapper around a web app), I get the following error and can't sign in:
This browser or app may not be secure. Learn more
Try using a different browser. If you’re already using a supported browser, you can refresh your screen and try again to sign in.
The problem must lie with the particular account because I can log into the same app just fine with other Google accounts. The problematic account otherwise works well (e.g. logging in on the web, using it for Chrome Sync, accessing Gmail). In case this matters: it is the only account where I use Two Factor Authentification.

All, there appears to be possibly two different issues reported here. It's possible that you are only affected by one or the other of them.

The first is an update to Chrome version 79. Uninstalling chrome, and reinstalling it may solve some peoples issues.

The other issue is allowing third-party services to connect to your Google account. If enabling 'less secure apps' does not solve the issue, then I can only suggest you seek support directly from the app developer.

Why Google are preventing third-party apps and services access to Google Accounts:

If neither of these appears to be your issue, you will need to create a new post in order to receive assistance and support. Please provide info of what browser you're using, on what device, and any other relevant info when reporting an issue.

For users facing log-in issue through Linux-specific web browsers (even after enabling less secure apps) please leave in-product feedback (usually available under main menu when on a google product page) And contact the app developer to report the issue to them.

For users facing log-in issues via stable version of Google Chrome browser please create a new post.
if you are not sure which of the above applies to you, please create a new post so that the issue can be assessed and support/advice provided individually.

Before December, it was possible to log in without any issue.
It is still possible to log in to OneDrive from a real browser, but the internal browser used by the application OneDrive on Windows 10 does not seem to be allowed by Google anymore (while it worked perfectly fine before December).

We did not change any security setting of the GSuite domain.
Furthermore, the use of an App password (which seems to be a secure alternative to allowing less secure app) does not solve the issue.

A workaround for Electron developers is to pass Chrome as the user agent when creating the browser window.

win.loadURL(`/url/path`, { userAgent: 'Chrome' });

Fabrice, Google do appear to have significantly decreased the number of apps that have permission to access your account starting early December, although they announced they would begin these steps in June, in a blog post from April.
As you are a gsuite user, if you are the domain admin, contact gsuite support regarding this. If you are not the admin, then request your admin contact Gsuite support.
