Confirm your identity using your Android device

If you're signing in from a different location than you usually do, we may ask you to enter a code that you get from your phone. This helps make sure that you own the account.

Important: Some steps vary based on your Android version. Learn how to check your Android version.

Verify your Google Account

If your device uses Android 6.0 or later:

  1. On your phone, go to Settings and then Google.
  2. Tap Manage your Google Account. Then, scroll right and tap Security and then Security code 
  3. If needed, enter your phone password and pick the account.
  4. A 10-digit code generates on your phone. 
  5. Enter the code on the device you want to sign in on and tap Continue.

 

For Android 5 and earlier
  1. On your phone, go to Google Settings.
  2. To request a security code: 
    • If your device uses Android 5: Tap Manage your Google Account. Then, scroll right and tap Security and then Security code.
    • If your device uses Android 4.4: Tap Security code.
  3. If needed, enter your phone password and select the account.
  4. A 10-digit code generates on your phone.
  5. Enter the code on the device you want to sign in on and tap Continue.
Tip: You don't need an internet connection or mobile service to get codes.
