Add or edit a group's welcome message



Connecting with customers, clients, or co-workers through Google Groups? Make a great first impression by adding a welcome message —a group's welcome message appears below the group name on the group’s conversation list.

This feature requires turning on Google Groups for Business.


  • Help prospective members understand the group's purpose.
  • Show important information, such as your team’s website or email address, so co-workers know how to learn more about your team.
  • Remind people of any important message, such as posting guidelines you'd like them to follow.

Add or edit a a group's welcome message""

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click the name of a group.
  3. On the left, click Group settingsand thenGeneral.
  4. In the Welcome message field, enter, edit, or delete your message text.
  5. Click Save changes.
