    • iOS 10 or later if your administrator doesn't need you to install the Google Device Policy app

Additionally, your administrator might set up account-driven user enrollment to let you add your account in iOS settings and have your device automatically enrolled.
  • Device enrollment–Work and personal data are not separated on the device. Your administrator has more control over the device.

Before you begin

  • You can set up your device in more than one way. Ask your administrator which steps you should follow.
  • If you already used your device for work, unregister your account from the Device Policy app and remove the app from your device. For details, go to Manage the Device Policy app.

 Set up a company-owned device

If you use a company-owned device for work, the device is managed by your IT administrator. The device is preconfigured with your organization’s preferred settings. Your administrator can control device features, such as whether or not you can access the Apple App Store or change notification settings.

Before you begin: If your organization issued you a device that was already in use, the device needs to be reset to its factory settings. If you need help, contact your administrator.

Set up your device

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Follow the prompts to set your preferred language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and create a passcode for the device.
  3. On the Remote Management screen, tap Next.
  4. When prompted, sign in with your personal Apple ID and set up Apple security settings.

If you use an Apple ID that you used with a different mobile-management solution, the Google Device Policy app might not install. You need to use a different Apple ID. If you start setup and it doesn’t complete, you need to factory reset your device and then restart setup with the new ID.

If you’re using a new Apple ID, finish setting up the new ID in the iTunes Store:

    1. Restart your device. When prompted to install the Device Policy App, click Install and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
    2. If you get an error about using your Apple ID for the first time in the iTunes Store, click Cancel or Review.
    3. Open the iTunes Store app.
    4. Tap your Apple IDand thenView Apple ID.
    5. Sign in with your Apple ID and password and complete the setup with your billing address.
    6. Factory reset the device and use the same Apple ID to set up the device again. The Google Device Policy app installs during setup.

If you try to restore from an iCloud backup during setup, you might not be able to use apps on your device. We recommend skipping the restore option. Your personal apps won’t automatically set up on your device. However,  when you add the account for personal apps, your personal data will sync when the setup is complete.

If the setup doesn’t complete, factory reset the device and restart setup.

  5. Wait while the Google Device Policy app installs on the device.
  6. Open Google Device Policy and sign in using your Google Workspace account.
Your Google Workspace account is the account that you use for work or school.
  7. Tap Accept to agree to the Terms of Service.
