In Google Workspace, before you assign numbers to users or port numbers to Google Voice, you need to set up your organization's location information. Voice needs the service address of your headquarters, or primary location, in each of the countries/regions where you use Voice.
Add primary or secondary locations
-
Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).
-
From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps
Google Workspace
Google Voice
Service management.
- Click Locations.
- At the top, click Add a location.
Note: If your organization has more than one location in a country or region, set up your headquarters first. The first location you set up becomes your primary location in that country or region.
- In the Location name field, enter a name that identifies your organization or the Voice location for your organization.
- In the Country/region field, click the Down arrow
and select your location from the list.
- In the Street address field, enter the service street name.
- In the Street address line 2 field, enter the service street number, or the name of the building for this location.
- In the Postal code field, enter the postal code.
- In the City field, enter the city for this location.
- In the Address line 1 field for your Company information, enter the service address of your organization's headquarters in this country or region.
- Depending on your location’s country or region, you might need to provide your organization’s tax identification number (Tax ID), registered business name, or organization number.
Your organization number is the number used for billing by the current service provider. The registered business name is the name that’s registered with your local tax authority (not necessarily your Google Workspace account name). If the registered business name is incorrect, you might not be able to port numbers to Voice. See Complete country-specific fields.

Voice needs the primary service address of your organization to properly manage your Voice account, including licensing and billing. Voice also uses this service address for desk phones you set up.
