Hostinger: Verify your domain

Tip: For convenience, expand the steps in this article and print it to refer to as you go through the verification process.

Why verify?

After you verify that you own your domain, you can start using your Google service, such as G Suite, G Suite Essentials, or Cloud Identity. If you have G Suite, you can start using Gmail, Google Drive, and all the other services included with your G Suite account.

How do I verify?

When you sign up for your Google service, you get a verification record that you copy and paste into your domain settings (usually stored with your domain host).

Step 1: Get your unique verification record

If you already signed up for G Suite but didn't complete the setup process, you can pick up where you left off.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. At the top of the Admin console Home page, click Click here to continue setting up the Admin Console.

  3. Click Verify

  4. Click Continue to verify your domain with a TXT record. You can also click Switch verification method if you need to use another method.A red circle highlights the Continue button at the bottom of the Here
  5. Click Copy to copy your unique verification record.A red circle highlights the Copy button next to the TXT verification record.
Step 2: Sign in to your domain host
  1. In the Admin Console, on the Verify your domain and set up email page, click the link to open your domain host sign-in page in a new tab.

    Note: If the Admin Console doesn’t provide a link to your domain, open the Hostinger® site in a new tab. Keep the Admin Console open in the first tab.

  2. At the top of the Hostinger site, click Login.
  3. Enter the email address and password you created when you purchased your domain from Hostinger and click Login.

    If you don’t know your account information, you can reset your password or contact Hostinger support.

Step 3: Add the verification record to your domain's DNS records
  1. On the Domains tab, select the domain name you want to verify with G Suite.
  2. Click DNS Zone to manage your records.

    DNS Zone is selected on the Domains tab.

  3. Open the instructions for the type of verification record you want to add to your domain’s DNS records. Add a TXT verification record (most common)
    1. In the DNS Zone editor, scroll down to the TXT (Text) section and click Add New.

    2. In the Host field, enter @ and leave the default TTL value.
    3. In the TXT value field, paste the entire verification record that you copied in step 1.

      Entries are complete on the TXT record fields and the Save button is active.

    4. Click Save to add the new TXT record.

      Note: The change can take up to 72 hours to update. However, as you go through the next steps in the Setup Wizard, the wizard immediately starts checking for the new verification record to verify your domain.

    Add a CNAME verification record
    1. In the DNS Zone editor, scroll down to the CNAME (Alias) section and click Add New.

      The CNAME (Alias) records are shown in a table, and the Add New button below the table is selected.

    2. In the open Host field, paste the contents of the Label/Host portion of the CNAME record provided by the Setup Wizard in step 1.
    3. In the Points To field, paste the long string of text and numbers from the Destination/Target portion of the CNAME record provided by the Setup Wizard in step 1.
    4. In the TTL field, leave the default of ½ Hour.

      The Host, Points To, and TTL fields are completed and the Save button is selected.

    5. Click Save.

      Note: The change can take up to 72 hours to update. However, as you go through the next steps in the Setup Wizard, the wizard immediately starts checking for the new verification record to verify your domain.

Step 4: Tell Google to verify
  1. Return to the Admin console. If necessary, click the link at the top of the page to continue setting up the Admin console.

  2. Navigate to the Verify your domain page. 

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Verify my domain.

G Suite: Next steps

Now it’s time to set up Gmail with your G Suite account.

  1. Keep the Admin console and your domain host pages open.
  2. In a separate browser tab or window, follow the instructions to set up Gmail (MX records) with your host.
